Before you start to think about the content – it might be wise to spend a few minutes thinking at a more strategic level about three specific things…
What do you want your audience to;
a) Think – what would you like your audience to think about; you, your product or service, your organisation and this pitch.
b) Feel – what would you like your audience to feel about; you, your product or service, your organisation and this pitch.
c) Do – what would you like your audience to do with the information you are giving them. Do they need to this now or later? Is it an action or a thought process, is it a paradigm shift? Is it getting a signature on the dotted line? Is it several of these?
If you spend a few minutes thinking about this you will find it easier to decide on the content that is going to suit your overall aim. You will find it easier to decide the right kind of language and energy you need to bring to the pitch.
It’s really worth spending those few minutes – what do I want my audience think, feel & do!
