Last week I had the absolute pleasure of attending an event called MeetFounders hosted by Andrew Bott. It is a virtual platform that looks to help investors and founders meet and make magic!

For a voice and body language geek, it was a perfect place to watch multiple pitches and hear what VC’s were looking for in a pitch.

The surprise was the investor’s number one red flag when listening to a pitch…

It wasn’t the robustness of the figures,
It wasn’t the ability of the team,
It wasn’t the originality of the idea.

It was the lack of a story.

The VC’s were telling the Founders they wanted to be swept away first and do the analysis second. Al Tepper talks about this in terms of getting your clients to spend in emotion, rather than save in logic.

How would you like your potential clients to spend in emotion?
